Top Three Hikes

BURKE, VA — Adventure racing chatter is a side-effect of racing as a team. If you put four friends together and make them transverse 40-50 miles of back country woods, you are eventually going to talk. During a recent adventure racing excursion, Dauntless members brought up the subject of hiking. In particular, we played with the idea of stating our three top hiking locations. Since a 12-hour adventure race is a long, long time to travel (mentally), the following are the only three responses I could remember. Enjoy!

kakadu-national-park(1) Go on a Walkabout from Darwin, through Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia, all the way to Uluru (Ayers Rock).

via-ferrata-iron-road(2) Hike the first Via Ferratas (Iron Road) mountain route that aided the movement of mountain infantry in World War I along the Dolomite Range in Italy.

Coyote Natural Bridge(3) Hike the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (Canyons of the Escalante) to include the Coyote Gulch in Utah.
